Join Ella in her brand new studio expansion which has been specially designed for her pewter workshop programme. A beautiful light filled space, next door to Ellas studio at Manchester Craft and Design Centre, with smaller class numbers so you can relax, create and have fun whilst learning a new skill.

Join Ella, a full time pewtersmith established in 2012, at Manchester Craft and Design Centre for a 3 hour pewter jewellery making workshop.
Under the expert guidance of Ella you’ll create your own design using pattern, texture &traditional jewellery making skills and experience the tactile experience of working with pewter
. We will use textures and foraged dried leaves or petals (green fresh leaves don't work) to print on the pewter using a traditional metalwork tool called a rolling mill.
We will then use hammers and piercing tools to shape your jewellery (approx 2 finished pieces per workshop) before polishing so you can proudly wear them home. A fun workshop with the joy of seeing your designs take shape.
Suitable for beginners or those with previous silver or jewellery experience.

Celebrate Manchester by creating your own pewter worker bee pendant, keyring or brooch using the traditional skill of cuttlefish casting.
Through the workshop Ella will guide you through the process of carving your design from the unusual material cuttlefish bone before we pour the molten pewter (lead free metal) to reveal your design.
We will then finish your cast using traditional jewellery tools and techniques before polishing so you can proudly take your final piece home. A fascinating technique with beautiful results.

Discover the magic of pewter cuttlefish casting - an age old jewellery making technique.
Through the workshop Ella will guide you through the process of carving your design, choose from pendant, keyring or brooch, from the unusual natural material of cuttlefish before we pour the molten metal to reveal your design.

We will then use hammers and piercing tools to shape your Christmas decoration and letter punches to add personalised details before polishing so you can proudly hang on your tree or wrap it as a handmade gift.

Join Ella on a 3 hour pewter bangle making workshop at Manchester Craft and Design Centre.
During this workshop Ella will guide you through the process of adding texture and pattern to sheet pewter, a lead free metal.
We will use textures and foraged dried foliage to print on the the pewter using a traditional metalwork tool called a rolling mill. Please feel free to bring textures to try (less than 5mm in thickness such as lace, dried leaves/petals (fresh green leaves don't work) and paper stencils work well).
We will then use hammers, forming tools and soldering techniques to create your bangle or cuff style bracelet before polishing so you can proudly wear it home. A fun workshop to create your own unique piece of jewellery.

Join Ella for a full day of metal bashing & skill learning to handcraft your own pewter spoon or bowl at Manchester Craft and Design Centre
Experience pewtersmithing to create your own pewter bowl or spoon using traditional metalwork skills.
Ella will guide you through the variety of traditional metalwork skills needed to design and make your bowl or spoon (decide on the day) before you take home to proudly use.
We will be working with sheet metal to raise your bowl or spoon from a flat sheet of metal. Using hammers and formers with a variety of heritage craft skills such as raising, piercing, soldering and polishing techniques.
Please choose spoon or bowl ticket at checkout. This is not binding (just to give Ella a rough materials guide) and there will be opportunity to swap on the day.
